About Machinery and Equipment Appraisals | Premise of Value | Valuation Process

Our machinery and equipment valuation services encompass a broad spectrum of analysis.  The general scope of our review includes the following:

  1. Project planning will determine the scope of work, overall timing and scheduling, optimal timing of the site visits and discuss the quantity and format of the deliverables.
  2. Identification of machinery and equipment
  3. Completion of equipment listings at the facilities including a review of the system process flow, specifications, maintenance records and other production capacity information.
  4. A review of current manufacturer’s price lists, price quotations and price catalogues to determine the current cost of a new item of the same or similar function.
  5. A review and analysis of the equipment’s age, physical condition, size and/or capacity of machines along with the degree of functional obsolescence present, if any and as required.
  6. Research and review of comparable equipment sales that have transacted in the marketplace, if any.
  7. Develop the opinion of value by the appropriate valuation approach(s): the three traditional valuation approaches are cost approach, direct comparison (market) approach and income approach.
  8. A review of the gathered data and analysis to assess market value of machinery and equipment (or insurable value).
